Hi everyone, I’mDodo from Vietnam. Today is June 5th — and guess what? It’s the arrival of Grain in Ear, or Mangzhong in Chinese. Among the 24 solar terms, this one is basically the hardest worker of them all.
Once Mangzhong kicks in, it’s like the whole country just stepped into a sauna set on high. Working folks are out there hustling hard, dripping with sweat, surviving on full bars of Wi-Fi, milk tea as a lifeline, and sunscreen worn like battle armor. Even the cicadas outside sound like they’re screaming to meet their KPIs.
And it’s not just a modern thing —since ancient times, Mangzhong has been the hardest-working solar term of them all—the king of the grind. Back then, farmers turned into time management pros, harvesting wheat while rushing to plant rice. If social media had existed back then, trending hashtags would’ve been things like #MangzhongMindsetand Spirit or #5AMInTheFields.
There’s an old saying: “Spring is a race against days; summer, a race against hours.”So as Mangzhong arrives, let’s work hard and gain something, not just run in circles. May we harvest the wheat of real life with one hand, and plant the seeds of our dreams with the other.
